ETHNICo is Era Dance Theatre’s in house music team led by established local music composer Dzul Rabull Jalil who already has five instrumental ethnic fusion albums under his belt.
Apart from creating and supporting EDT’s dance performances with live music, ETHNICo also performs a range of repertoire from local favourites to popular Asian and Western songs.
Their main attraction is the multi-ethnic instrumentation from the Malay archipelago which includes the Kulintang, Angklung, Rebana, Kompang, Gambus, Accordian, Gambang, Salwang, Serunai and Seruling coupled with western instruments like the base guitar, violin and the keyboards.
As Singapore’s first multi-ethnic instrumentation music ensemble, ETHNICo is a testimony of a home grown ensemble that embraces the multi-ethnicity and cultural diversity of Singapore.
