This contemporary dance production is an epitome of the mastery blending of Malay and Indonesian dance movements with Japanese music composition. The exquisite touch of Osman Abdul Hamid together with the charismatic movements of Bimo Wiwohatmo and captivating music of Izumi Nagano in itself promises an enchanting piece of art in the making. The husband and wife team of Bimo and Izumi, together with Osman staged “ERA BERMULA” and ERA EXPRESSI” in 1993 and 1995 respectively. Now, 20 years on, they are ready to create another milestone production in Singapore’s Malay contemporary dance scene with a tri-master collaboration of Berkaca dalam Diri.
About "The Mirror Within"
Sincerity and thankfulness are but two simple words understood by many from the young to the elderly. But how many actually realise that life has no meaning nor a bearing if we are not sincere in our actions and thankful with what we have.
Simply said, when we fail to stop, think and reflect especially in our actions or inactions, we are just being irresponsible to ourselves and to the Almighty who has bestowed us with this wonderful gift
Universally called, the breath of life. The reflection from an intangible mirror within, allows us to think and rethink introspectively. A simple act of reflecting serves as a reminder for us to learn and re-learn, that we can better prepare ourselves to face the impending challenges of the future.
Our choices and actions define who we are and where we will be. Or, would we rather plough callously and chance getting lost within the realms of tribulation.
This is a story about life as we know it.... presented by the masters and dancers from Era Dance Theatre. Be inspired and be enthralled.
